When I received my Verizon wireless bill this month, it was $10 more than usual. So, I tried to log on to my account to see the bill to find out why. For some reason my account was "locked," but their helpful website informed me that in order to help me fix Log In issues I would have to - you guessed it - LOG IN. I picked up the phone...
Turns out my bill was more because Verizon suddenly decided to charge me for text messages RECEIVED on my 3 year old internet connection device (not a phone) that I didn't even realize was capable of receiving texts. What's worse, all the texts, every last one, were FROM VERIZON trying to sell me something - more data, more this, more that. So Verizon was billing me for the privilege of receiving their own sales texts. (God forbid if I had to fight this in court, since buried deep in their Terms of Service I am sure there is a sentence which forbids me from doing so.)
After getting them to reverse that charge (and block all texts going forward), I inquired about some upgrades to my plan. For what I wanted, Verizon would charge $210 / month, but I could "get a discount if I was employed." In other words, if I could afford MORE, I would get to pay LESS.
I just laughed at the salesperson, who then informed me that the credit for the text charges would take up to 2 billing cycles to appear on my account, despite the fact that the original charges were billed instantaneously.
Silly little examples, I know - but they all add up.
